This Week in Toronto (Sept 18 - 24)

"Hellooooo..." Remember that? Ms Doubtfire. That movie sucked. Anyways, Welcome to a new week, and there is some really good music happening. So who's in? You? What should I pimp before I go on? How about Laura Barrett? I have the distinction of being on the same bill as her this weekend (well... not MY name per say, but a band I play in... and we're technically playing at the same festival, different day though...) Anyways, she's great, check out her myspace. Onwards and upwards!!

THURS SEPT 18

Nick Zubeck CD release party at Tranzac (292 Brunswick)
Nick is great. No doubt about it. Seeing him live is always a great idea, he's writes clever somber music, really good stuff. But, tonight, not only do you see Nick, but you get to see Sandro Perri and Angela Bower. This is a solid lineup, and I suggest everyone should check it out, I'll be there, come have a drink with me.

FRI SEPT 19

Willie McBean and His Magic Machine playing at Trash Palace

Well, I have no idea what this is about. But, look at that title? Willie McBean and His Magic Machine?! I don't know. I'm kinda mad I'll be in London playing LOLA... I actually mean that. LOLA will kick ass, but there probably won't be a Magic Machine....

SAT SEPT 20

Chameleon Project at Lee's Palace

Part of the Small World Festival, with Rebel Rhythm and Alexis Baro Quintet. A great place for dancing, and only $12. You can head up to Dance Cave if you want to keep dancing.

SUN SEPT 21

K-OS, K'Naan, and Rascalz at Nathan Philips Square FREE!!
A whole day of hip hop, and really the highlights for me are K-OS and K'Naan. And it's all free. I just started listening to K'Naan, and wow, the man is amazing. Someone who has lived a scary life, tougher than any of the weak Gangsta rappers, and singing intelligent songs. Good stuff.

MON SEPT 22

Sigur Ros at Massey Hall
Shit, I forgot about this. I saw Sigur Ros the last time they were at Massey Hall, and it was a fantastic show. Great venue for this band. I'm curious to see how some of the new tracks play live, especially Gobbledigook, easily the popiest song this lethargic band has ever written.

TUES SEPT 23

Apocalypse Now: Redux playing at Fox Theatre

Francis Ford Coppola's Classic adaptation of Heart of Darkness... in the Redux version! Now, if you haven't seen the Redux version, it's not necessarily better, but it's worth seeing for the extra scenes with Robert Duvall, and Marlon Brando. Any footage of Brando is gold. Plus the print is fantastic.

WED SEPT 24

Robocop and Starship Troopers playing at Bloor Cinema

Great Cult double bill. Robocop is actually a great movie (fuck yeah I mean it) and Starship Troopers is campy fun. Good way to spend a Wednesday night.

Willie McBean and His Magic Machine! I'm excited that it apears to be stop motion animation. This is so weird for Trash Palace. And don't worry, I'll be sure and tell you alllllll about it. hehehe.

Yeah, thanks Jess. I REALLY appreciate that. I LOVE having around to tell me when I miss something awesome. I'm a HUGE fan of sarcasm.
